How substitute teaching makes me feel valued

Estimated Reading Time: 2 minutes

Armed with credentials and schooling, Miguel Alejandro Padron wanted to put his skills to good use and make a difference in his community. That’s why he dove headfirst into substitute teaching.

Why I became a sub

I became a substitute teacher because in the area where I work, there is an immense need to transform instruction for the students. When someone hears their needs and knows how to lead them, the student’s themselves can be transformed and nurtured, providing them a sense of agency.

How I started subbing

I wanted to start working right away after receiving my Bachelor of Science from the University of California, San Diego. After I passed the CBEST, I jumped right into a long-term teaching assignment with San Diego City Schools. Thanks to all my credentials and schooling, I’ve developed into a substitute teacher who delivers quality instruction every day.

Why I use Swing

Swing is where I get to discover new opportunities and get to utilize everything I learned in academia. The students and administrators recognize that I have much to contribute toward improving the level of academic quality at that school. The bookings that I make with Swing will allow me to feel appreciated for my knowledge and hard work.

Whether you’re an experienced educator looking to advance your career, or just looking to get your feet wet, Swing allows you full control over your teaching career. When you sub with Swing, you can easily find and select the assignments that fit best with your lifestyle — not the other way around.
