Make sure your certification is up to date

Register in a serviced location

Arizona has a relatively easy path to certification for substitute teachers. In fact, no additional testing requirements are necessary, although you will need to hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Complete screening steps

To become an active substitute teacher with Swing, you’ll need to complete a few essential screening steps in order to be eligible to teach:

Submit a valid Arizona teaching credential

• Verified by our Swing setup team upon set up
• Verified through the Arizona Department of Education database
• Credential must be current, valid, and have no flags per the AZ DOE website.

Submit a valid Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

• Verified by our Swing setup team upon set up
• Verified through the Arizona Department of Safety database
• Clearance card must be current, valid, and have no flags per the AZ DOE website. If there are flags, Swing evaluates per our background check review process.

Once you’ve completed the registration and screening process, you’re ready to start accepting assignments and teaching! Use the Swing app to find available positions that match your schedule and preferences.
