Successful substitute teaching involves completing the day with a thorough substitute teacher report.  These reports are designed to summarize your observations about students and the lesson plans.  Some teachers will prepare printable materials and references ahead of time, but in case you’re substitute teaching without these resources, you can use our report below!

Make sure that you give credit to students who were outstanding and identify students who struggled with the lesson plans.  This way, the teacher will know which students need extra encouragement and support when he or she returns to work.  It’s also important to be honest about any modifications you’ve done to the lesson plans. Highlight some wins and explain what the students enjoyed the most during class time.
